Why is it important for me to learn about Structural Balance?

For athletes, you are only as strong as your weakest link.

But let’s be clear, a weakness in a lift does not necessarily mean you are weak, it means that potentially, there is a  muscle that is limiting that lift.

If the competitive athlete has a muscle weakness:

  1. It can cause injuries due to over-compensation of the stronger muscles.
  2. It can decrease athletic performance.  If your competition comes down to milliseconds, a muscle imbalance can determine if the athlete comes in 1st or 2nd place

Although the Upper Body Structural Balance assessment was used to test athletic performance, everyone is an athlete, and structural imbalances play a role in every person’s life; specifically, working environments, activities/hobbies, and injuries.

Using the strength-based Upper Body Structural Balance Assessment, you can identify the weak links and properly design your athlete’s program to increase the strength of those muscles, using specific target strength ratios between lifts or between muscle groups.

The 3-day PICP™ Upper Body Structural Balance Course will cover:

  • Upper Body Structural Balance Assessment
  • Program Design with Periodization Models for Athletes & Gen Pop Clients
  • Functional Anatomy for the scapular and humeral stabilizers
  •  Exercise Variations & Progressions of the Upper Body

Here’s what to expect:

  • After registration, you will gain access to the online Theory Manual and online theory presentation and receive specific course information (hotels, airports, and what you need to bring to class).
  • Between registration and the course, you are required to successfully complete the Theory Exam with a score of 92% or better.  We ask that this is done before attending the in-person course.
